MY ROLE
• Designed the full tri-fold vinyl packaging system including cover, inner spread, and labels
• Developed abstract wave visuals using Illustrator based on layered audio waveforms
• Created a colour-coded mood system to reflect time of day and emotional tone
• Consulted peers for real-time feedback and refined designs based on user interpretation
2025
This project was a mix of packaging, product, and a little bit of sound design—built around something we usually tune out: background noise. I wanted to focus on the quiet sounds that fill our days without us noticing, like the hum of a fan or the creak of a floorboard. The outcome was three vinyl designs, front and back, and a tri-fold cover that helped bring those everyday sounds into focus, both visually and physically.
The outer design of the tri-fold cover was shaped by the idea of turning sound into something you can see. By playing with different waveforms and layering them together, two types of sound waves were combined to create a visual rhythm. The final look feels calm but textured—like the quiet patterns that make up everyday noise.
Outer cover design layered with dual soundwave patterns to visualize the beauty of ambient noise.
The inner design of the tri-fold cover captures the feeling of a day unfolding—morning, afternoon, and night—through gentle gradients that reflect shifting moods and energies. Each section features a soft “aura,” meant to show how sound can quietly influence how we feel as time passes. The colors were chosen through a simple, thoughtful experiment: AMXZE DESIGN spent a day fully tuned in to the sounds around them, from the first stirrings of morning to the stillness of night. Along the way, friends and peers offered their take on the energy being given off—adding another layer to the final palette.
Each gradient panel captures the shifting energy of morning, afternoon, and night through soft tonal transitions.
Each vinyl echoes the inner cover’s gradient, capturing the mood of morning, afternoon, and night. Simple text and subtle visuals hint at the sounds within, tying each record to its time of day.
Custom labels echo the cover's color story and hint at the emotional tone of each track.
This project taught me how to blend emotion, abstraction, and system thinking into one cohesive visual experience—something I’d bring to branded campaigns, merch, and beyond.
